Neustar, the .BIZ Authority, has recently obtained authorisation by ICANN for registration of 1 and 2 characters .BIZ domains.

Applicants wishing to register their 1 .BIZ character domain must submit their application before the 31st of July 2009, whereas those wishing to apply for a 2 characters domain will have time until the 30st September 2009.

In both cases, applicants are required to submit documentation explaining the reasons for registration and the intended use of the applied-for domain name.

The application fee is 300 US dollars and must be paid directly to Neustar.

Should a domain name be applied for by more than one applicant, the domain name will be allocated via an auction. Auctions will take place after the 3rd of August for 1 character .BIZ domains, and from the 30st of October for 2 characters domains.
