The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) recently announced the approval of EURid's application to take the new Top Level Domain .eu, into ICANN's root files.

EURid has published a new timetable for the launch, confirming the start of the Sunrise period in late 2005. Registrar agreements will be available this May. EURid will soon begin accrediting .eu Registrars and publishing a list on its website.

La World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), ha annunciato che nel 2004 sono stati trattati 1.179 casi, pari al 6.6% in più rispetto al 2003.
Il Centro per la risoluzione delle dispute di WIPO ha mediato 7.000 dispute, relative a 124 paesi, per un totale di 12.500 nomi a dominio dalla sua costituzione nel 1999.

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) reported in February that it handled 1,179 cases in 2004, a 6.6 percent increase over the previous year. According to the report, WIPO's Arbitration and Mediation Center has dealt with more than 7,000 disputes, involving parties from 124 countries and more than 12,500 individual domain names, since the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) went into effect in December 1999.

Starting from 1st of March 2005, the Authority of the Hungarian domains has declared that all the entities (societies, organizations, people,…) resident in the European Community can register a domain .HU, with the requirement of a local Admin-c (if you need, Register.it can provide one).
Until today, foreign societies could register a domain in Hungary only if they had a trademark corresponding with the domain name, if they did not have this requirement they had to register a 3rd level domain CO.HU.

Dal 1° marzo 2005, l’Autorità incaricata della gestione del dominio ungherese ha annunciato che tutte le entità (società, organizzazioni, persone fisiche,…) appartenenti alla Comunità Europea potranno registrare un dominio .HU. L’unico requisito che sarà richiesto sarà avere un Admin-c locale (ma Register.it lo può fornire).
Fino ad oggi le società straniere che desideravano registrare i propri domini in terra ungherese dovevano possedere un marchio registrato corrispondente al nome a dominio oppure accontentarsi del dominio di III livello .CO.HU.
