Finora solo i grandi marchi hanno aderito in maniera consistente alla campagna di registrazione ai nuovi domini comunitari ".eu", secondo quando riferito dalla società Register.it, parte del gruppo Dada, accreditata per la raccolta delle richieste per il suffisso europeo.

Dalle richieste di registrazione dei domini .EU sinora processate da Register.it – Gruppo DADA emerge che solo i brand più noti hanno provveduto a proteggere il proprio marchio in rete con la nuova estensione europea.

Sex.eu was the most sought after domain name using the European Union’s own TLD (top-level domain) on the opening day for registrations. According to data supplied by EURid, the body responsible for registering .eu domain names, sex.eu received the highest number of applications.

European businesses rushed to sign up for the new ".eu" Internet domain name, putting in 100,000 Web site applications by the end of its first day available, the group in charge of registering the requests said Thursday.

Per ora le richieste saranno riservate a istituzioni e detentori di marchi registrati. Dal 6 aprile 2006 indirizzi aperti a tutti.
